CHENNAI: The Madras High Court on Friday declined to stay the dismissal of K. Premkumar, who was removed from service on May 21 following conviction in a case. Justice S. Manikumar, who admitted the main writ petition of the former Superintendent of Police, however, dismissed the stay petition praying for a stay on the operation of the impugned Government Order. In his petition, Mr. Premkumar said his conviction and the sentence awarded by the court was minimal, attracting penal provisions of some non-cognisable and bailable offences. The case arose out of a private complaint and not out of any first information report.
Reinstatement sought
He prayed for a stay on the operation of the impugned order of dismissal, and sought reinstatement with seniority in service and back wages.
