Staff Reporter

KOCHI: Keltron Toolroom Research and Training Centre (Keltrac) at Aroor has invited students to join its academic programme in tool and dye making. The institute is offering a three-year diploma course.

According to N. Krishnakumar, director of Keltrac, the syllabus, curriculum, methodologies and the hands-on practical sessions have been conceived to meet the increasing demand of expertise in sophisticated tooling and machining.

Candidates who have passed CBSE, SSLC, THSLC, VHSE, or equivalent examination can apply. For general seats, a candidate should have not less than 50 per cent marks in mathematics and 50 per cent in science (physics plus chemistry).

For CBSE/ICSE candidates, the marks obtained in science are considered in place of physics and chemistry. The age limit is 20 years as on August 1.

Keltrac will provide one-year on-the-job training to the trainees who have successfully completed the academic course in related industry outside the campus. The institution is equipped with hi-tech machinery, he said.

Facilities

The facilities include offices, workshops, classrooms, science labs, CAD/CAM training centre and CNC machine shops. The machine shop consists of 10 chosen state-of-the-art CNC machines, including 5 axis milling, high-speed milling, CNC lathe and turn mill centre.

Keltrac has achieved 100 per cent placement for its new batch of trainees. Some of the recruiters include Godrej, Pricol and BPL.

A written test for admission to the course will be held on June 24. Details about the programme and test can be had on www.keltrac.org / www.keltron.org. Contact: phone 0478-2871405/ 2871406.

Short-term courses offered by the centre include CAD/CAM lab with latest version software in AutoCAD, MasterCAM, Pro-E, Solid Works and Unigraphics, press tool, jigs and fixtures and mould design.
