Students, teachers and parents stage protest

Staff Reporter

BHUBANESWAR: A group of teachers, students and their guardians of a local college in Bhadrak district on Tuesday staged demonstration in front of Council of Higher Secondary Education (CHSE) here protesting against the council's decision to withhold examination results of 59 students.

The council had allegedly taken the decision on the basis of a report of mass-malpractice submitted by a four-member squad.

The students and teachers, who belonged to Ghanteshwar Mahavidyalaya under Chandbali block of Bhadrak district, sat on a fast unto death here alleging that report was "false and motivated." "The squad did not find any incriminating materials from Hall No-4 of the college where examination was going on. They collected some materials from some other sources and placed it as proof," alleged Akshaya Kumar Giri, a lecturer.

"Another reason was that two members of the squad belonged to neighbouring college and they tried to defame our college so that their college could stay in priority list of the state government to receive aid," Mr. Giri charged.
