Workshop on competitive exams

CHENNAI : Educational consultant Visu International will organise a free workshop on competitive examinations such as GRE, TOEFL and GMAT between 10 a.m. and 1 p.m. on Friday at Hotel Aruna on Sterling Road. Interested students could contact: 98400 40403 or 2374 1352 or 4208 2207.

Asthma awareness

An asthma and allergy awareness detection programme was conducted at P.S. Higher Secondary School on R. K. Mutt Road in Mylapore on Tuesday.

A documentary on the detection and treatment of the ailment was screened. Dr. R. Sridharan of Asthma and Allergy Resource Centre, Mylapore and Dr. Sunitha Kanumury from International Asthma Services, Colorado (USA) and school headmaster B. Raghuveeran participated.

Competitions for students

Sri Suprabhata Sabha, Baroda Street, West Mambalam will hold competitions in various categories such as classical and devotional music for juniors (8 to 12 years) and seniors (13 to 18 years). Last day for registration is June 28. Group singing (bhajans), sloka recitation and quiz are the other competitions for which registration has to be made through schools. Blood donation camp

The Indian Red Cross Society's blood bank recently conducted a blood donation camp at GOMS Electricals Private Limited in Mandaveli.

Master Plan consultation

Chennai Metropolitan Development Authority (CMDA) has extended the deadline for the public consultation process for the draft Second Master Plan up to August 31. This comes in the backdrop of request from the public for an extension and the release of the Tamil version of the draft second Master Plan.

The CMDA has also rescheduled the public consultation meetings. According to the new list, on July 14, a meeting in the city (for Zones 9 and 10) would be organised at Raja Annamalaipuram. On June 30, the public consultation would be held at Tiruvottiyur for the areas under the municipalities of Tiruvottiyur, Kathivakkam, Manali and Madhavaram, and the Chinnasekkadu town panchayat. On July 28, a meeting would be organised at Tambaram for the areas under the Tambaram, Alandur, Pammal and Pallavaram municipalities and town panchayats of Meenambakkam, Nandambakkam and Perungalathur.

Train rescheduled

Train No.2512 Trivandrum - Gorakhpur Raptisagar Express scheduled to leave Chennai Central at 11.15 p.m on June 13 is rescheduled to leave at 4 a.m on June 14 due to late arrival of its pairing train, according to a Southern Railway press release.
