Special camp at passport office

KOCHI: The passport office here will hold a special miscellaneous service camp from 9.30 a.m. to 1 p.m. on June 16 for applicants from the districts of Thrissur, Ernakulam, Idukki, Alappuzha and Kottayam as well as from Lakshadweep. Only applications for miscellaneous services will be accepted at the camp.

Passports issued

KOCHI: The Regional Passport Office, Kochi, has processed and issued passports for fresh applications received till March 21. The passports have been despatched in the week ending June 8.

Bus operators' plea

KOCHI : The Ernakulam District Private Bus Operators' Association has urged the civic and law-enforcement agencies to take urgent steps to clear traffic bottlenecks from Palarivattom to Kakkanad. Association president George Zacharia said that parking should be curbed in the narrow stretch from Palarivattom to Padamugal Pump Junction. The association urged the students to desist from trying to get inside a single private bus as a group. Award for scribe

KOCHI: B. Sreejan, senior reporter of Indian Express, Thiruvananthapuram, has been selected for the C.V. Pappachan endowment award instituted by the Ernakulam Press Club. His report on Abhaya case was adjudged the best by a committee comprising senior journalists.
