Hyderabad: School Education Minister C. Damodar Raja Narsimha urged officials and teachers to mobilise school dropouts and readmit them into schools. He was inspecting the Mahboobia Girls School here on Tuesday as part of the enrolment drive under "Badibata" programme. He was accompanied by B.C. Welfare Minister M. Mukesh Goud. The Minister expressed concern at the sharp fall in the number of students and wanted at least 400 children to be enrolled this year as against 209 in the last academic year. Referring to the dilapidated condition of school buildings, he said Government had sanctioned Rs. 5 crore for construction of school buildings in Hyderabad district. This was in addition to Rs. 6 crore sanctioned by GHMC for provision of furniture. Mr. Narsimha said Rs. 1.2 crore had been sanctioned for construction of additional classrooms in the Mahboobia school premises and asked the district Collector to obtain permission from the heritage department. The Minister regretted that computers supplied to government schools were still not being put to proper use. Later, the Ministers inspected Government School at Shahinayatgunj and Moghalpura. District Collector R.V. Chandravadan and others accompanied them.
