Three killed in road accidents

BANGALORE: Three persons, including a student, died in as many road accidents in the city since Monday night.

The police said Tania Singh (22), a computer science student, died on the spot after a lorry rammed his motorcycle near Marathahalli on Outer Ring Road on Monday night. He was a resident of HSR Layout. The Airport Traffic Police have registered a case.

In another incident, Narasamma (38) was killed on the spot in a hit-and-run case reported from Devanahalli Road on Monday.

The police said that around 8.30 p.m. Narasamma was standing on a road median near Kogilu Cross, waiting for her brother Lokesh who had gone to a nearby petrol outlet to get petrol for his motorcycle. As she stepped on the road to join her brother, a speeding vehicle ran over her. The Yelahanka traffic police are on the lookout for the vehicle.

A man aged around 30 was killed after he rammed his scooter against a culvert on Hosur Road, between Electronics City and Veerasandra, around 8.45 a.m. on Tuesday.

The Madivala traffic police, who have registered a case, said they were yet to ascertain the identity of the dead.

Stolen

A thief put his hands through an open window and made away with a gold chain and a mobile phone, together worth Rs. 50,000, from Chetan's house in Eshwar Layout in 7th Phase, J.P. Nagar, on Monday night.

Stabbed

Abdul Farooq (25), an employee of a welding workshop and a resident of Laggere, was seriously injured after his colleague, Muzamil, allegedly stabbed him in the abdomen in the early hours of Tuesday.

The police said the incident took place around 5.45 a.m. near a restaurant in Basaveshwaranagar police station limits. Muzamil attacked Farooq suspecting that he had complained against him to their employer, the police said.
