Former DGP's plea dismissed
Legal Correspondent
HYDERABAD:
A writ petition filed by former Director General of Police Peravaram Ramulu seeking action against Chief Minister Y. S. Rajasekhara Reddy in the matter pertaining to granting pardon to Gouru Venkat Reddy, was dismissed by a Division Bench of the Andhra Pradesh High Court on Tuesday.
The writ petition by Mr. Ramulu, who recently joined the Telugu Desam Party, contended that the Supreme Court had severely indicted the action of the Government in granting relief to Mr. Venkat Reddy, husband of Congress legislator G. Charitha Reddy.
The petitioner's contention was that as the Chief Minister had played an important role in this episode, he could not continue. in office by virtue of the comments made by the Supreme Court. The Bench did not appreciate the contention of the petitioner and dismissed the writ petition.
