Anti-liquor forum plans novel protest

HYDERABAD:
The United Forum Against Consumption of Liquor has decided to take up a novel protest on June 14 to press its demand for controlling liquor sale by the Government. It will conduct a mega blood donation camp at Hamalibasti, Padmaraonagar, in which about 300 persons are expected to take part.
The camp coincides with the World Blood Donation Day, leaders of the forum V. Lakshmana Reddy, A. Lakshmana Rao, chairman and a former Chief Justice of the Allahabad High Court, K.Prasuna, ex-MLA, and S.Srinivas Reddy, director, Association for Promotion of Social Order, said in a statement here on Tuesday. They demanded steps by the Government to remove 1.5 lakh `belt shops' as also liquor shops and bars located close to schools, temples, hospitals and residential areas.
