Held for assault

NEW DELHI: Three young men have been arrested at Hauz Khas here for alleged criminal assault on a teenage domestic help.

According to the police, Anil (25), Nikhil (21) and Jitender (18) took the 17-year-old to an isolated place inside a tennis stadium in Africa Avenue and took turns criminally assaulting her on Monday evening.

Three arrested

NEW DELHI: Three persons have been arrested in Punjabi Bagh here for allegedly being in possession of 70 kg of ganja.

According to the police, the accused -- later identified as Baij Nath, Sumer Mehto and Rajesh Kumar-- alighted from a bus on Rohtak Road on Monday carrying three trunks and a bag. Their luggage was searched and the contraband seized, the police said.

Auto-lifter nabbed

NEW DELHI: A 25-year-old man has been arrested at Vikaspuri here for his alleged involvement in over 28 cases of auto-lifting.

Acting on a tip-off, the police team laid a trap near PVR Vikaspuri on Monday afternoon and intercepted a Maruti car. The occupant of the car, later identified as Sharad Pandey, could not produce the ownership documents and was arrested.

Burglaries solved

NEW DELHI: Two young men have been arrested at Nand Nagri here for their alleged involvement in seven cases of burglary. Four colour television sets, a camera and some gold and silver ornaments have allegedly been recovered from them.

Acting on a tip-off, the police team laid a trap on Harsh Vihar Road on Monday and arrested 22-year-old Saleem and 30-year-old Salim Khan.

Gangsters held

NEW DELHI: Two alleged gangsters involved in cases of murder, attempt-to-murder and extortion have been arrested by a joint team of the Delhi and Uttar Pradesh police near Wazirabad Road here. The police claim to have seized two country-made firearms and five live cartridges from them.

Bail plea rejected

NEW DELHI: A court here has rejected an anticipatory bail plea by a businessman who has been accused of siphoning off crores of rupees from the National Agricultural Cooperative Marketing Federation (NAFED) in connivance with its senior officials.

Additional Sessions Judge S. N. Gupta rejected the plea of accused Lalit Mohan observing that huge amounts had been siphoned off and that custodial interrogation of the accused was required.
