MUMBAI: Tech Mahindra, provider of solutions and services to the telecommunications industry, has unveiled its social vision by launching the Tech Mahindra Foundation. The foundation will focus on education to the underprivileged children and women empowerment in education with a view to realising the full potential of each group. The foundation was launched by the management of Mahindra & Mahindra, Tech Mahindra and Ben Verwaayen, CEO, British Telecom Group. The foundation will have an initial corpus of Rs. 2.50 crore. which has been contributed to by the employees and by the company. Tech Mahindra is committed to contribute up to two per cent of its post-tax profit every year towards the cause of the foundation, which will be able to spend Rs. 6 crore in the current year. The foundation announced its tie-ups with Delhi and Maharashtra based non-governmental organisations (NGOs) and partners like Akansha, Anawa, Godhuli and Voice. In the future, the foundation is looking to tie up with organisations that share its common values and have commitment, competence and integrity towards the cause. Addressing the media here on Wednesday, Keshub Mahindra, Chairman of the Mahindra group, said, "the launch of Tech Mahindra Foundation is a special day for us. The Mahindra group defines corporate social responsibility as making socially responsible products, engaging socially responsible employee relations and making a commitment to the community around it.''
