Corrections and Clarifications

* A sentence in "CEOs and the wealth of notions" (Editorial page", June 12, 2007) was: "But this is the city of 25,000 of India's 83,000 dollar millionaires." A reader wondered whether this should have been 83,000 millionaires.

In paragraph 11, a sentence was: "... Has the reform process largely favoured the rich and corporations?" The reader wondered whether it should have been "corporates".

In paragraph 16, a sentence was: "The emergence of India's first trillionaire in Reliance chief Mukesh Ambani." The reader asked whether this was in dollars.

P. Sainath clarifies that the millionaires are dollar millionaires; "corporations" and "corporates" are used interchangeably. "Corporates" is mostly used in India, while in the U.K. and the U.S., the usage is "corporations"; the trillionaire is a rupee trillionaire, as the rest of paragraph 16 shows. There are no dollar trillionaires.

* In a news item "Veermani welcomes Government's move" ("Briefly", Chennai city, June 13, 2007, page 4), the reference to E.V. Ramasamy being the founder of the Dravidar Munnetra Kazhagam is incorrect. It should have been the Dravidar Kazhagam.
