Stung by the players' criticism of the European Tour's stand pertaining to the $2.5 million Indian Masters golf in February next, the Indian Golf Union (IGU) on Wednesday tried to highlight the offer of 20 slots to professionals from the domestic tour in the mega event. The IGU Secretary General Satish Aparajit said, "The European Tour would like to be seen as adding value to the countries they take their tour and it is for this reason, based on the performance of our players, that they offered so many invitations." On the issue of the European Tour not involving the Asian Tour or the PGTI in staging the Indian Masters, he said "they are not prepared to joint sanction or co-sanction events anymore and are looking at growing markets where players have been performing commendably."
