NEW DELHI: Alexander Grischuk defeated fellow Russian Grandmaster Sergei Rublevsky 2.5-0.5 in the rapid tie-breaker games in Elista on Wednesday to complete the eight-player line-up for the World chess championship in September.

After 17 days of qualifying matches, Levon Aronian (Armenia), Peter Leko (Hungary), Boris Gelfand (Israel) and Grischuk earned the right to join the four seeded players — World champion Vladimir Kramnik (Russia), Viswanathan Anand, Peter Svidler (Russia) and Alexander Morozevich (Russia). The World championship will be a 14-round competition in Mexico City.
