Anirban Lahiri came up with another good performance to stay on top of the leader-board of the LG-Eagleton Amateur Golf tournament here on Wednesday. A second round card of five-under-67 saw Lahiri open an eight-stroke lead over Arshdeep Tiwana, who vaulted into joint second spot with a 67, and Raj Randhawa who played a 70. While Lahiri's form held, it was a bad day out for Saurabh Bahuguna who dropped to eighth position after a 76.
Great putting
Lahiri opened with a birdie and added six more during the round. His putting was absolutely brilliant as he sank a 12-footer on the third, a 15-footer on the 10th and another 12-footer on the 11th. On the 6th, 11th and 18th he had easy birdies and also had a good putt for a par on the 12th. Lahiri logged two bogeys (9th and 13th) as he increased his lead. Hyderabad's Tiwana, a relative newcomer on the amateur circuit but playing for the second time at the Eagleton course, came up with a command performance. He had a bogey free round and five birdies for the day. The scores (after second round): 133: Anirban Lahiri (66, 67); 141: Arshdeep Tiwana (74, 67), Raj Randhawa (71, 70); 142: Chikkrangappa (71, 71), Mithun Perera (69, 73); 143: H.S. Kang (69, 74); 144: Moin Malak (70, 74), Saurabh Bahuguna (68, 76); 145: Prabagran (71, 74); 146: B.R. Raja (74, 72), Simarjeet Singh (72, 74).
