Arumugam of Madurai entered the quarterfinals of the boys' under-18 singles in the State youth carrom championship for the Sri Kaliswari Fire Works Trophy at Sivakasi on Wednesday.

The results: Boys (under-18): Pre-quarterfinals: Silambarasan bt Pradeep 19-6, 17-19, 25-5; Dillibabu bt Lawrence 25-0, 21-2; Santhosh Kumar bt Arun Babu 22-8, 20-19; C.D. Ashok Kumar bt Sriram 7-25, 22-17, 23-11; Sathish Kumar bt Ravikanth 23-4, 25-12; Chandrakumar bt Saravanan 25-8, 25-2; Arumugam bt Karikalan 25-13, 13-18, 25-10; Stalin bt Nagaraj 25-4, 25-0.

Damodharan wins

A. Damodharan of Tawker Sports Club won the veterans' title, defeating S.N. Dhamodharan of FRRC 20-17, 25-0 in the Virudhunagar District Carrom Association tournament at Sivakasi on Wednesday.

Selection trials

Dindigul District Cricket Association will conduct trials to select the under-15 and under-19 teams at G.T.N. Arts College ground, Dindigul. For under-15, it will be on June 16 at 3 p.m. and for under-19 on June 17 at 3 p.m. Those born on or after 1.9.1992 (under-15) and on or after 1.9.1988 (under-19) are eligible to participate. Cricket trials

The trials for the selection of the Tirunelveli District under-15 team will be conducted by TDCA at ICRC turf gound, Sankarnagar, at 2.30 p.m. on June 18. Those born on or after 1.9.1992 are eligible to participate. Contact R. Srikanth, secretary, ph: 94433-40821.

Carrom tournament
