Minister's assurance to CPI(M) activists

Our Staff Reporter

NIZAMABAD: There was a high drama outside the Pragati Bhavan (Collectorate) on Wednesday when CPI(M) workers engaged in a scuffle with police personnel when the District Review Committee meeting was in progress here.

The agitators relented when the police allowed them to talk to the Minister for Higher Education D. Srinivas.

Representing the grievances of the shelter less poor in the town, the CPI(M) leaders Peddi Venkatramulu, D. Venkat, S. Latha and Noorjahan said that the poor were struggling to get house sites and the Government was silent and indifferent.

They withdrew only after the Minister assured them of all possible steps to meet their demands.
