Mumbai: The BCCI's chief administrative officer Prof. Ratnakar Shetty spoke to former England off-spinner John Emburey on Tuesday to find out the veracity of the news in the Indian media that the BCCI approached him to ascertain his availability after South African Graham Ford declined the job as coach of the Indian team for one year. "There were reports in the media that Emburey (who made a presentation to the BCCI's special committee in Chennai) too has rejected the BCCI's offer citing reasons. Emburey told me that he did not receive any call from the BCCI officials and that the statement attributed to him in the Indian media was wrong. He was even willing to issue a statement,'' said Prof. Shetty. Before leaving for London, Ford conveyed his acceptance to the special committee members and even told them that he would either join the Indian team at the camp in Bangalore or before the start of the tour in Ireland.
