BANGALORE: Mamta Kharab will lead the Indian women's hockey team which leaves here for a six-Test series in Japan on Thursday.

According to chief coach, M.K. Kaushik, Jyoti Sunita Kullu had expressed her inability to play in the series and hence Mamta has been named the skipper. Two others players, Pushpa Pradhan and Binita, are also reported to be on the injury list and would not make the trip to Japan.

Kaushik, however, felt that the team looks sharp and has trained well here at the SAI (South) Centre and has every chance of winning the series.
