CHENNAI:The Tamil Nadu Government has notified a State-level steering committee which will be the authority to administer the Tamil Nadu Energy Conservation Fund. With the Secretary, Energy Department as its Chairman, the Committee will have as its Members a government officer not below the rank of Deputy Secretary in the Finance Department and the Director, Dr. Ambedkar Institute of Productivity, National Productivity Council. The Chief Electrical Inspector will be the Member-Secretary. Notifying the rules for the administration of the fund, a government gazette extraordinary said the purpose for which the fund would be applied include meeting the expenditure incurred by the designated agency to take measures to create public awareness and disseminate information for efficiency use of energy and its conservation, promote research and development in energy conservation by the designated agency and the use of energy efficient processes from equipment, devices and systems.
