Thiruvananthapuram: The Authorisation Agreement between the Government of Kerala and M/s Chalet Hotels and K. Raheja Corporation for setting up a Rs.100-crore International Convention Centre Complex (ICCC) near Akkulam tourist village was signed on Wednesday.

The agreement was signed by Secretary, Tourism, V. Venu for the Government in the presence of Minister for Tourism and Home, Kodiyeri Balakrishnan and Minister for Law and Parliamentary Affairs M. Vijayakumar.

Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Balakrishnan said the ICCC would give a boost to the hospitality sector and convert the capital city into a hub for MICE (Meetings, Incentive, Convention and Exhibition) tourism.

With this, decks have been cleared for the setting up the ICCC with 26 per cent equity participation of the Government. A Special Purpose Vehicle will be formed to implement the project under Built-Operate-Transfer concept. The first phase would be completed in three years.
