New Mahila Congress chief

VISAKHAPATNAM: B.Vijaya Reddy has been appointed president of Greater Visakhapatnam Mahila Congress president. She has received a letter to the effect from AP Mahila Congress president K.Ganga Bhavani.

Ms. Reddy told reporters here on Wednesday that she would strive to help women by getting ration cards and old age and widow pensions to them. She said a Mahila Congress convention would be conducted in the city soon. The city executive would be appointed within a month. On her aspiring for the post of a co-opted member in the municipal corporation, she said it would depend upon the decision of party leaders. Stating that she had been an active Congress workers for 18 years, Gajuwaka Mahila Congress president and twice councillor there, she thanked Commercial Taxes Minister Konathala Ramakrishna, Union Minister T. Subbarami Reddy and MLAs for choosing her women Congress president for the city.
