Yasin Merchant, Alok Kumar in last eight

Karachi: Yasin Merchant and Alok Kumar recorded contrasting victories to reach the quarterfinals of the 23rd Asian snooker championship here on Thursday.

While Merchant easily beat Mohsin Aziz of Qatar 5-2, Alok had to toil hard to edge out Chan Hon Kwon of Hong Kong 5-4.

``I will have to produce some tricks to win. There are some magnificent young players in this tournament and beating them will not be easy,'' Merchant said after his win. — PTI
