Prathamesh in sole lead

Principal Correspondent

DINDIGUL: Prathamesh Mokal would have settled for a draw with former National `A' champion P. Konguvel in the sixth round of the 45th National `B' chess championship at the PSNA College of Engineering and Technology here on Thursday. The Pune lad even proposed a draw after 10 moves, but he was refused and was forced to play. A few hours later, he won the game, his sixth in a row.

Prathamesh thus moved into the sole lead with six points, half-a-point ahead of S.P. Sethuraman, who is in the sole second position. Sethuraman also had a good day, as he drew with fourth seed Sundararajan Kidambi in the morning before turning the table K. Ratnakaran in the sixth round.
