Patna: In an effort to complete the ongoing road projects on time, the Bihar Government has sought Centre's intervention for the proper supply of bitumen required for the construction work. Nand Kishore Yadav, Road Construction Minister, told reporters here on Thursday that against a demand of 1.32 lakh tons of bitumen between April and May this year, the Indian Oil Corporation Limited (IOCL) and Hindustan Petroleum Company Limited (HPCL) together supplied 44,000 tons of bitumen, thereby, badly affecting the ongoing road projects. Mr. Yadav said he had written a letter to the Union Petroleum Minister Murli Deora on June 12 to intervene and ensure proper supply of bitumen to Bihar. ``I shall be grateful to the Centre if it ensures supply of bitumen as per the requirements of the state for road construction as the outlay for road construction in the State has been enhanced from Rs.50 crore to Rs.1000 crore per annum,'' Mr. Yadav said, adding he had requested Union Railway Minister to arrange special rakes for the supply of bitumen to Bihar.- PTI
