CHANDIGARH: The Haryana Government has decided to constitute an inter-sector Coordination Committee of four departments -- Health, Women and Child Development, Education, Public Health and Sanitation -- to increase service coverage for women and children and ensure better quality of services, Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda said on Thursday. Presiding over a general body meeting of the State Health Mission, he asserted that an integrated approach by these departments would ensure safe motherhood and childhood by infusing a sense of personal hygiene among children, check problem of anaemia at an early stage, lay emphasis on sanitation and ensure supply of clean drinking water. It was also decided to train teachers in identification and prevention of communicable disease, nutrition deficiencies, first-aid and educating children about maintaining sanitation and personal hygiene. Integrated interventions by Women and Child Development and Health Departments would ensure early registration and online listing of all pregnancies and identification of mothers belonging to below poverty line families under Janani Suraksha Yojna. Public Health and Sanitation Minister Randeep Singh Surjewala disclosed that drinking water tanks had been cleaned in all urban and rural areas as the Department was committed to ensuring supply of safe drinking water.
Mission
It was decided to create a temporary post of Director Finance and Accounts for the duration of the National Rural Health Mission up to 2012 to streamline financial management of the funds allocated under the Mission. Others present at the meeting included Finance Minister Birender Singh, Health Minister Kartar Devi, Parliamentary Secretary (Health) Dr. Krishna Pandit and Chief Minister's Principal Secretary M. L.
