ANANTAPUR: Several villages in Ramagiri and Kanaganapalli mandals of the district were in the grip of panic on Thursday afternoon after people experienced mild tremors for about three seconds. However, no loss of human or animal life and property damage was reported from any of the villages that experienced the tremors. According to information reaching here, some people came running out of their houses, following the tremors and there was panic all around as people started discussing the issue. When contacted, Dharmavaram RDO G. Venkatesham said that the tremors were felt by the people of Narsampalli, Somalavandlapalli, Vepakunta, Tagarakunta, Muktapuram, Mamillapalli and Kanaganapalli village in Ramagiri and Kanganapalli mandals. The tahsildars of the two mandals visited the villages. The RDO interacted with people at Mamillapalli. Meanwhile, the district administration reported the incident to the National Geophysical Research Institute (NGRI) at Hyderabad.
