‘Government creating disputes between regions and districts’
HYDERABAD: The Telugu Desam on Thursday said it would review irrigation projects like diversion of Godavari water from Dummugudem to Nagarjunasagar tailpond and raising the capacity of Pothireddypadu head regulator. Counter-agitations
At a press conference, senior TDP leaders Kadiam Srihari, S. Venugopala Chary and E. Peddi Reddy alleged that the Government was creating inter-regional and inter-district disputes by taking up such irrigation projects and when the Opposition was highlighting them, it was even organising counter-agitations instead of rectifying the mistakes. Refuting Congress leader P. Sudhakar Reddy’s charge that the TDP leaders were denying water to Khammam and Nalgonda, they said that they were not opposed to Dummugudem Lift Irrigation Scheme but the other component of taking water to the tailpond. They released a list of 10 questions asking the Government to respond. They wanted the Government to reveal its intentions behind keeping the comprehensive water policy pending even after three years.
