Opposed

BIJAPUR: G.K. Patil, MLC, has opposed the decision to include 8th standard in government higher primary schools from this academic year.

In an open letter to the Government, he said such measure would deprive the high schools of enough number of admissions.

If there were not enough number of admissions in aided schools, teaching posts for the classes concerned would be cancelled, he said. Teachers, who served many years, would lose their jobs. Private aided and non-aided high-schools would be closed down, he added. — Staff Correspondent
