THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Asianet Communications is all set to launch its fourth channel on June 17. Named Asianet Suvarna, the 24-hour Kannada channel will be mainly entertainment-oriented, with a mix of daily soaps and serials, game shows and talk shows, movie- based programmes, news and current affairs. The channel will have over 80 per cent of its programming produced in-house. One of the highlights of the channel will be the serialised version of ‘Sangolli Rayanna,’ the Kannada historical chronicle to be telecast every week between Monday and Thursday on prime time. Asianet Suvarna will broadcast live news bulletins five times daily. Popular movies will be telecast between Friday and Sunday. The channel will be broadcast on wide beam covering the region between Australia and Europe. Chief Creative Officer, Asianet Communications, Shyam Sunder said the package offered by Asianet Suvarna was designed for the complete family. “Our prime time programmes will be superior to the existing ones in the Kannada television space,” he said.
