Rein in Sudhakaran, says BJP

The Minister has ridiculed the Hindu community: Krishnadas

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: BJP State president P.K. Krishnadas has urged Chief Minister V.S. Achuthanandan to rein in Devaswom Minister G. Sudhakaran and change his portfolio.

Addressing a press conference here on Thursday, the BJP leader said the Minister ridiculed the Hindu community as whole, scandalised the ‘tantris’ and threatened the Yoga Kshema Sabha. His speech at a DYFI meeting recently had crossed all limits.

In case the Chief Minister failed to take action, the Hindu community could not be blamed if they took the matter into their hands. Mr. Sudhakaran’s remarks could lead to communal clashes.

Mr. Krishnadas said the issue at Guruvayur was the entry of non-Hindus into the temple.

The BJP was for the entry of all believers into the temples on the basis of a consensus.

There were entry restrictions against Sunni sects and Mujahideens in some mosques. Some Christian churches remained closed over entry.

The BJP, he said, would organise a satyagraha by women in front of the Guruvayur temple on June 18 against non-believers interfering in temple worship.

The DYFI activists, who did not believe in temple worship, were planning a satyagraha before the temple on the same day.

The State president said the stand of the Chief Minister that political parties could encroach upon Government land for setting up party offices was ‘strange’.

The CPI and the CPI (M) had made crores of rupees by building resorts on Government land and banks of streams.

They should demolish the buildings and remit the money earned by them to the Government.

Mr. Achuthanandan betrayed the trust of the people by protecting encroachments and reining in the Special Task Force (STF).

In view of this, the BJP would resume its agitation demanding evictions of encroachers.
