Man held on cheating charge
Staff Reporter
CHENNAI: A 56-year-old man has been arrested on charges of cheating a senior citizen of Rs.10 lakh.
Central Crime Branch police said the accused, C. Dhanushkodi, had agreed to sell a one ground vacant plot in Chintamani, Anna Nagar, to M. Maadhu (77) of Aranmanaikaran Street. Mr. Maadhu paid Rs 10 lakh as advance to him. However, Dhanushkodi neither registered the plot nor returned the money, and Mr. Maadhu lodged a complaint with Commissioner of Police Letika Saran, who directed the CCB to investigate.
Police registered a case of cheating against Dhanushkodi and produced him before a city court. Further investigation is on, a press release said.
