Helmet debate

One can understand the anxiety of those who are all for two-wheeler riders wearing helmets. The fact is those who are for it ride two-wheelers less and those who are against it ride them regularly. There is no dispute regarding the safety factor; it is the inconvenience factor that discourages many from using the helmet. Physical disorders caused by constant use deter some others. The problem can be solved to a great extent if two-wheelers are designed with storage space for helmets.

Isn't it surprising to hear opinions opposing the Tamil Nadu Government's move to enact a law making helmet use compulsory? Why don't we whole-heartedly welcome the rule, as we all know its benefits? Those who oppose it should realise that the prospect of injuries caused by not wearing the helmet is much worse than the uneasiness and discomfort caused while using the helmet.
