Coimbatore: Sheikh Amreen of Andhra Pradesh and S. Swetha of Tamil Nadu clinched the under-12 and 14 girls' titles respectively in the ONGC-Pro Serve AITA Talent Series tennis tournament at the Cosmopolitan Club Courts here on Friday. Amreen, the u-12 top seed, dashed the hopes of third seed and local girl Swetha 6-3, 1-6, 7-6(9) for the title. However, Swetha came back strongly to defeat Amreen 6-2, 6-3 to clinch the u-14 crown. H. Suraj of Kerala and Avinash R. Sai of Tamil Nadu scored hard fought wins over their opponents for the boys' u-12 and 14 titles respectively.
The results: Finals: Boys: U-14: Avinash R. Sai (TN) bt H.M. Yunus (TN) 7-6(3), 1-6, 6-3. U-12: H. Suraj (Ker) bt Anvit Bendre (Guj) 7-6(8), 4-6, 6-2. Girls: U-14: S. Swetha bt Sheikh Amreen 6-2, 6-3. U-12: Sheikh Amreen (AP) bt S. Swetha (TN) 6-3, 1-6, 7-6(9).
