Somai Murmu and Chungda Sherpa, both of Services, provided the spark on the final day of the third National ranking archery tournament, which was also the selection trials for the Indian contingent for the 44th world championship in July. The two armymen clinched the third available berths in the men's recurve and compound bow sections respectively on the final day's selections trials where two rounds of Super Eight competition was held at the SAI, Eastern Centre. National champion Dola Banerjee of Railways, Chekrovolu Swuro of Nagaland and Laishram Bombayla Devi of Railways will form the ladies' recurve team. The selected archers will go through a coaching camp at Kolkata from June 20 till the team's departure. The Indian squads: Recurve: Men: 1. Rahul Banerjee (SPSB), 2. Tarundeep Rai, 3. Somai Murmu (both Services). Women: 1. Dola Banerjee (Rly), 2. Chekrovolu Swuro (Nag), 3. L. Bombayla Devi (Rly). Compound: Men: 1. Jayantilal Nanoma (Raj), 2. Ch. Lenin (AP), Chungda Sherpa (Ser). Women: 1. Jhano Hansdah, 2. Bheigyabati Chanu (both Jharkhand). 3. Sumanlata Murmu (Jhar., recommended).
