Gayle skipper for ODIs

Bridgetown: Chris Gayle will take over the captaincy from Daren Ganga in the 14-man West Indies cricket squad for the limited-overs matches against England.

Gayle received the captaincy on Thursday when Ganga was not included in the squad by the West Indies Cricket Board. Shivnarine Chanderpaul was named the vice-captain.

The only newcomer in the squad is Austin Richards Jr., a flashy left-handed opener from Antigua.

The selectors recalled all-rounder Dwayne Smith and right-handed opener Lendl Simmons, who both played in the World Cup, but were dropped from the Test team.
