Bridgetown: Chris Gayle will take over the captaincy from Daren Ganga in the 14-man West Indies cricket squad for the limited-overs matches against England. Gayle received the captaincy on Thursday when Ganga was not included in the squad by the West Indies Cricket Board. Shivnarine Chanderpaul was named the vice-captain. The only newcomer in the squad is Austin Richards Jr., a flashy left-handed opener from Antigua.
The selectors recalled all-rounder Dwayne Smith and right-handed opener Lendl Simmons, who both played in the World Cup, but were dropped from the Test team.
The squad: Chris Gayle (captain), Shivnarine Chanderpaul, Dwayne Bravo, Fidel Edwards, Runako Morton, Daren Powell, Denesh Ramdin, Ravi Rampaul, Austin Richards Jr., Darren Sammy, Marlon Samuels, Lendl Simmons, Devon Smith, Dwayne Smith. AP
