An Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate's court here has ordered framing of charges on receiving remittances in dollars, pounds and other foreign currencies by six accused in order to launder their alleged tainted money of Bihar's infamous fodder scam of the mid-1990s
Passing her order on a complaint filed by the Enforcement Directorate in 2002, ACMM Kamini Lau fixed July 5 as the date for formal framing of the charges against prime accused Vijay Malik, his mother Lilavati and wife Kamal Malik, Vipin Malik, Rajeev Malik and Sandeep Malik.
Directorate counsel Naveen Kumar Matta exmined eight witnesses at the pre-charge stage to prove the charges against the accused persons.
The Directorate accused Vijay Malik, a supplier of cattle feed to various agencies of the Bihar Government between 1991 and 1992, and his family of receiving remittances in dollars, pounds and other foreign currencies to launder scam money.
According to the complaint, Vijay Malik in his statement said that he had sometimes brought money for K.N. Prasad, former Assistant Director of Animal Husbandry Department, Bihar, and one of the key accused in the fodder scam, from Patna to Delhi.
