CHANDIGARH: Haryana Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda on Friday directed the Urban Local Bodies Department to complete works worth Rs. 199 crore sanctioned under the Jawaharlal Nehru National Urban Renewal Mission (JNNURM) by the year 2009. Addressing senior officers of the local bodies here, he said the Central Government had approved two schemes for revamping of sewerage system and sewerage treatment works in Faridabad and construction of drainage works at Old Faridabad. It had also approved two schemes for construction of dwelling units at Dabua Colony and Bapu Nagar in Faridabad. Mr. Hooda directed the officers to provide all basic amenities to the dairy owners while shifting these dairies from the outskirts of 12 cities. The Chief Minister's Principal Secretary M.L. Tayal said a system should be evolved to monitor the progress of the works being executed by the Department so that these could be completed within a timeframe and the people should feel the "visibility" of the ongoing works. Commissioner and Secretary (Urban Local Bodies) P.K. Gupta disclosed that the Jawaharlal Nehru National Urban Renewal Mission had approved a plan for development of Faridabad city costing Rs. 2,679.11 crore.
