Union Power Minister Sushil Kumar Shinde on Friday said Delhi would get 90 per cent of the power generated from the 980 MW phase II power project of NTPC at Dadri in Uttar Pradesh. "This is being done in view of the forthcoming Commonwealth Games-2010. The remaining 10 per cent of the power generated from it will go to U.P.," Mr. Shinde said after laying the foundation stone of the project at Dadri in neighbouring Gautam Budh Nagar district. NTPC will commission two 490 MW units at the project site. With the commissioning of the new units, the total generation capacity of the Dadri project will rise from 1,670 MW to 2,650 MW. "The project has played a significant role in power supply to the entire Northern region and in overall development of the area," he added.
