St. Stephen's cut-off list out

The much-awaited cut-off percentage list for various undergraduate courses offered by Delhi University's St. Stephen's College was declared late on Friday evening, two days ahead of the tentative schedule.

The cut-off for B.A. (Honours) Economics for students from Science background is 95 per cent, one per cent higher than last year. For Humanities, the cut-off has shot up to 94 per cent from 92 per cent in 2006-07, while for Commerce it has maintained the status quo with 97 per cent.

For B.A. (Hons) English, the cut-off percentage has remained the same as last year. For those from Science stream, the cut-off is 93 per cent and for those from Humanities background 87 per cent. Only those who have secured 97 per cent and above in Commerce stream in their Class XII can pursue English at St. Stephen's.

History cut-off up

If the cut-off percentage for B.A. (Hons) History is unchanged at 92 per cent and 94 per cent respectively for Science and Commerce students, it has moved from 83 last year to 84 per cent now for those who studied Humanities at the senior secondary level.

Interestingly for B.A. (Hons) Philosophy, the cut-off for those from Science background has come down from 89 per cent last year to 88 this year, while for Humanities, it has dropped from 83 per cent in 2006-07 to 78 per cent now. The sharpest decline, however, has been for those from Commerce where the cut-off has fallen from a high 93 per cent last year to only 84 per cent in 2007-08

In B.A. (Programme), Science and Humanities students can heave a sigh of relief as the cut-off in 2007-08, like last year, stands at 86 per cent and 79 per cent respectively, though for Commerce students it has moved up one per cent to 90 per cent this year.

There will be a relaxation of 15 per cent for Christians in these courses.

In B.A. (Hons) Sanskrit, the cut-off has come down by one per cent to stand at 60 per cent this year.

For B.A./B.Sc. (Hons) Mathematics, the cut-off for candidates from Science and Commerce backgrounds remains unchanged -- 92 per cent and 91 per cent respectively -- but there is a considerable increase for those from Humanities background since the cut-off has risen to 85 per cent compared to 81 per cent last year.

The Christian students will be offered a relaxation of 15 per cent in this course.
