ANANTAPUR: The Railway police of Hindupur in Anantapur district on Friday termed the death of S.V. Vijila, a native of Kerala and a student of a nursing college in Bangalore, on the intervening night of May 27 and 28 in the town as a ‘pure case of suicide’. Ms. Vijila, 18, who was pursuing B.Sc. Nursing second year in Sri Ramakrishna College of Nursing in Bangalore, allegedly committed suicide by jumping across a moving train near Model Colony in the town. Her body was noticed by neighbours who informed the railway police who informed Vijila’s parents in Kerala with the help of telephone numbers found in her purse. Inquries by the then Sub Inspector of Railway Police Subba Reddy with the nursing college authorities and her classmates revealed that the girl was regularly speaking to a boy for long hours on her cell phone. As these conversations continued late in the night, her colleagues complained to the college authorities and she was made to apologise. They also handed over some of her love letters to the college authorities. The railway police said that she came to Hindupur from Bangalore by a train. “She might have chosen Hindupur to end her life so that she remains unidentified for sometime,” Sub Inspector of Railway Police Eeranna, who took charge on June 11, said when contacted. After the post mortem, the girl’s body was handed over to her father, G. Vijayan, on May 29. The girl’s parents had told the railway police then at their daughter was apparently in love with a person. She was one of the two children to her parents who hailed from Neyyattinkara in Thiruvananthapuram district. Special Correspondent from Hyderabad adds: Sources in the Chief Minister’s Office said the Government will cooperate with any agency investigating the woman’s suicide. Following information that Kerala Chief Minister has sought the cooperation of his counterpart here in unravelling the mystery behind the girl’s death, officials said appropriate measures would be initiated in the matter. The CMO directed district officials to update it on the issue.
