High Court accepts school’s affidavit

Bangalore: The Karnataka High Court on Friday continued an interim order staying the notice of derecognition of a school at Uttarahalli after it filed an affidavit undertaking to impart education in the medium of instruction in which it had been permitted to operate.

When the matter came up, Justice Rammohan Reddy, who is hearing petitions against notices of derecognition of primary schools and violation of the medium of instruction, sought to know whether Vijay Sai Education Society of Arahalli in Uttarahalli filed an affidavit as per the earlier orders of the court.

When the society said it had filed the affidavit undertaking to impart education from the first to the fourth standards in Kannada, Justice Reddy accepted the affidavit and stayed the order of derecognition of the institution.

In a related development, the Karnataka Unaided Schools Management Association (KUSMA) on Friday filed an application before the High Court stating that although it had informed the single judge on Thursday that a Division Bench had posted for orders its appeals against the voluntary scheme drawn up by the Government for primary schools, the single judge had vacated interim orders staying the scheme.

The application is expected to come up for hearing before a Division Bench headed by the Chief Justice.

No orders

A Division Bench comprising Chief Justice Cyriac Joseph and Justice B.S. Patil could not pass orders on writ appeals by KUSMA and other primary schools as the Bench did not sit on Friday. The matters are likely to posted for orders on Monday.
