Spot study: The CBI team probing the Mecca Masjid blast issue at the site in Hyderabad on Friday.
HYDERABAD: A team of Central Bureau Investigation (CBI) officials went around Mecca Masjid here on Friday and witnessed the ‘Jumma’ prayers offered by ‘namazis’ at noon. The CBI officials observed the turnout at the historic mosque during the prayers and visited the blast site and enquired with the local police about some details of the bomb explosion that left nine persons killed three weeks ago. Police sources said the CBI team sought to know when the bomb could have been planted inside the mosque. They discussed different possibilities like the bomb being carried inside by the culprits in the guise of ‘namazis’. The team was told that people were allowed to carry tiffin boxes inside the mosque. Interestingly, when the CBI team was witnessing the prayers some people were seen carrying lunch boxes inside even as police persons subjected them to security check at the entrance through door frame metal detectors.
