Meet planned on poor portrayal of women

Staff Reporter

KOZHIKODE: The State Women’s Commission will organise a meeting of those associated with the direction and production of film and serials, writers and others here on July 3.

Women’s Commission sources said the meeting was being organised with a view to elicit opinions and suggestions from those associated with films and serials in the State and on how best to avoid the alleged poor portrayal of women on the celluloid and soap operas.

Ten prominent persons in the field will present papers. D. Sreedevi, Chairperson of the State Women’s Commission, said the panel had shown its concern time and again on the poor depiction of women in the serials that were aired by many channels. It was with a view to remedy the anomaly, at least to a certain extent, that the brainstorming session was being organised.
