MUMBAI: Bertling Logistics Pvt. Ltd., one of the world's leading project forwarding companies, has announced the launch of its Indian operations. The main focus of the company's activities in India will be project management and logistics. Addressing the media here on Friday, Josi Morreale, Director and Global Board member, Bertling Logistics, said, "We will also offer other aspects of transportation like general freight forwarding, air freight, air charters, heavy haulage and customs clearance." The company has set up the Mumbai office as its headquarters for the South Asian operations. Shankar Chatterjee, Managing Director, India and South Asia, said, "we are basically a project forwarder. We also have developed ideas for warehousing, vessel agency, project relocation and coastal shipping." According to Dirk Jurgensen, Joint Managing Director, Bertling Logistics, "we do not own any assets here but we have good sub-suppliers. The intention is to establish a strategic relationship with them and we are, in the next few years, willing to take a minority stake in their companies." Without divulging details of the plans for India, Mr. Chatterjee said the nuclear sector was one of the key areas the company was looking at. "We have done a lot of work in the nuclear sector. In fact, we have won a five-year contract in India to handle 400 tonnes of cargo."
