Patna: After denying that he shoved a woman who was seeking a job for her son, Bihar Agriculture Minister Narendra Singh apologised for his action on Saturday. "If my action has hurt anyone, I am making a public apology," he said, a day after Chief Minister Nitish Kumar ordered clearing the dues of her late husband and a job to one of his dependents within a week. Mr. Narendra Singh touched off a controversy by shoving Akelo Devi in public view on Thursday when the latter approached him, complaining of non-payment of her husband's dues and seeking a job for her son. Ms. Devi is the wife of Radhe Singh, an employee of the Rajendra Agriculture College who died a couple of years ago. "In my long political career, I have always fought for the rights of depressed sections and women. I never intended to show disrespect to her or insult her," Mr. Singh told PTI.
