New Delhi : Former cricketer Maninder Singh was on Saturday discharged from a hospital in east Delhi, a week after he was admitted there with cuts on his wrists. The 41-year-old, who was embroiled in a drug abuse case, was discharged from the Shanti Mukund Hospital after undergoing treatment for seven days, a hospital official said. He was unconscious and bleeding profusely from both hands when brought to the hospital. Police have taken the blood samples of Maninder to ascertain whether he was under the influence of alcohol or drugs. The type of injuries gave rise to suspicion that it was a suicide bid but the left-arm spinner's family denied that saying he suffered the wounds while banging at the window panes of their residence to wake them up late in the night.
