Bakkiaraj triumphs

Sivakasi: S. Bakkiaraj of Chennai beat R. Tharani Kumar, also of Chennai, 25-24, 25-0 to win the boys' under-21 title in the 29th TN State youth carrom championship for the Sri Kaliswari Fire Works - Sivakami Ammal Trophy, organised by Virudhunagar District Carrom Association at the Muslim Kalyana Mandapam here on Friday.

Boys: U-18: S. Stalin (Che) bt L. Silambarasan (Che) 25-14; 25-19. U-14: V.R. Venkateswaran (Mdu) bt Vigneswaran (Che) 25-24, 25-13. U-12: G. Kumareson (Che) bt Giridharan (Che) 12-25, 25-14, 25-8.

Girls: U-21: M. Parimaladevi (Che) bt B. Suganya (Che) 25-0, 25-2. U-18: V. Srividya (Mdu) bt Sarayu Rithambara (Vnr) 25-13, 25-17. U-14: M. Kanagadhara (Mdu) bt S. Adulya (Mdu) 25-0, 13-25, 25-4. U-12: K. Parveen (Mdu) bt N. Abirami (Vnr) 25-21, 25-2.

Kadhar triumphs

In the Virudhunagar District ranking tournament, Kadhar of Friends Recreation Club, Virudhunagar won two titles.

The results (singles): Kadhar bt Rajamani (Tawker Sports Club) 25-26, 25-16. Doubles: Kadhar and Maraikayar (FRC) bt Rajamani and Ganesan (TSC) 25-19, 25-5.

Selection trials

The trials for the selection of the Tirunelveli District under-17 and under-19 cricket teams will be held at ICRC turf ground, Sankarnagar at 2.30 p.m. on June 25. Those born on or after 1.9.1990 (u-17) and 1.9.1988 (u-19) are eligible to participate. Contact R. Srikanth, ph: 94433-40821.
