Defar sets world mark

: Jamaican 100m world record holder Asafa Powell and Russian World and Olympic pole vault champion Yelena Isinbayeva underlined their star credentials here on Friday with crushing wins in their respective events.

Ethiopian Meseret Defar kept up the Bislett stadium's reputation as one where records will continue to be broken by setting the 53rd, smashing her previous world record mark in the women's 5000m by eight seconds.
