Prakash Amritraj executed what was expected of him as he beat the top-seeded Karan Rastogi 6-3, 6-1 in the final of the $10,000 ITF men's Futures tennis tournament at the DLTA Complex here on Saturday.

It was the third title in a row for Prakash in the three-week circuit, and the effort helped him collect 48 ATP points.

On a humid evening, the 20-year-old Karan rallied nicely with strong groundstrokes, but his serve was a big let down once again. Karan could not recover after dropping serve with three doublefaults in the first game.

On the other hand, Prakash was confidence personified as he recovered from 0-40 in the fourth game to stay on course. He did not face another breakpoint in the whole match, and dropped only seven points in all on his serve.

Quality fare

It was a quality fare, and the 23-year-old Prakash was quite pleased with his effort.

"I just tried to keep my focus and keep my mind in the present. I am a lot more mature now and am glad that my game held good for three weeks,'' said Prakash, who will be flying home to California and train for two weeks before trying his hand in the big league, starting with the Challenger in Chicago.

He expressed confidence about carrying his form and fitness into the bigger league.
